Wharton Business School Furthers the Social Impact of Colombian Girl Jewelry

Colombian Girl Jewelry had the opportunity to partner with four of the brightest minds from The Wharton School earlier this year, in a collaborative effort to broaden Colombian Girl's social impact by revealing "jewelry made from fruit" to socially aware, eco-minded markets in the United States. 

The program, known as "The Social Impact Consulting Group" (SIC), is a non-profit group at the Wharton School, fully operated by undergraduate students who wieldcutting edge business knowledge to further the social mission of local organizations and businesses.  The students who choose to participate do so on a voluntary 100% pro-bono basis, representing the finest minds (and hearts) today's premiere business school has to offer!

The mission of SIC is two-fold:

1) To provide high-quality, high-impact, tangible, and sustainable deliverables to clients.

2) To offer undergraduate students at the University of Pennsylvania with real-world experiences in the field of non-profit consulting.

The  team who partnered with Colombian Girl Jewelry was made up of four uniquely experienced students representing a diverse spectrum of interdisciplinary academic majors, ranging from Finance and Management to International Studies and Engineering.  The four students were all seasoned professionals in the SIC program, having partnered with other socially minded organizations in the past, and all were especially drawn to Colombian Girl Jewelry for their unique jewelry product, handmade from fruit and seeds, and the social mission guiding the company's founders.

The SIC team shown above, pictured from left to right, was made up of:

Emily Zhang, a junior in the Jerome Fisher Program in Management and Technology (M&T), a dual degree program between The Wharton School and the School of Engineering and Applied Science.

Teddy Guenin, a senior, also in the M&T program.

Annie Wasserman, a sophomore in the Huntsman Program in International Studies and Business, a dual degree program between The Wharton School and the School of Arts and Sciences.

Anderson Tien, project leader, a junior in the Life Science and Management (LSM) Program, a dual degree program between The Wharton School and the School of Arts and Sciences.

Over the course of a semester, the SIC team developed a two-pronged approach to refine Colombian Girl Jewelry's long-term e-commerce strategy, addressing both the needs and wants of the Colombian Girl Jewelry consumer while reaching new markets.  The culmination of the semester's work came in the form of a formal presentation delivered to company founders, providing key deliverables with practical applications that will enable Colombian Girl to become a leading e-commerce social enterprise in the forseeable future.

Colombian Girl Jewelry is proud and humbled to receive the expert attention of the SIC group, delivered in a professional and earnest manner, and extend sincerest gratitude to The Wharton School and their four SIC partners for their profound insights.
