Proud to be an American!

Carolina Locker

Thank you America for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.  May God bless America!

Thank you America for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.  May God bless America!

Today we are thankful to be an American based company, where the dream to start a business and use it to help others, is still alive and thriving.  We are thankful for the millions of brave man and women that guard our shores and continue to fight today, to keep us safe and free.  Today we are thankful for our many customers, who live in a society that allows them to purchase whatever goods and services they so please, and in doing so, allow small businesses like us to expand and improve our products.  We are thankful for the little things, hamburgers and swimming pools, corn on the cob and sparklers, that make this day special ... may we never forget what Independence Day really means, and may we always fight to end tyranny and injustice, on our land and abroad.  May God bless America!

It's Finally Here, Our First "Official Video!"

Carolina Locker

Our 1st offical video was released today!!!  Completely shot on-site in the mountains of Colombia, and filled with the musical sounds and voices of a young Colombian band called Makana (song titled "Mi Tierra"), we hope the video allows you to experience the beauty of our jewelry, as well as the beauty of the people, music, and landscape of Colombia first-hand!

Telling someone it's "jewelry made from fruit" is one thing, but showing how the jewelry is literally scooped out, dried, dyed, and tediously crocheted together by our dedicated Colombian women artisans, gives it all new meaning.  Please watch our video to learn more about this gorgeously exotic product and the real reason we find ourselves in this line of business, whole heartedly bent on empowering the women artisans who create it, in an eco-friendly and sustainable manner.

Our 1st OFFICIAL VIDEO Nears Completion!

Carolina Locker

We found the perfect match!  Production on our first official "video" nears completion and today we were granted rights to use a song called "Mi Tierra" by a young Colombian band named Makana ... it's as distinctly Colombian as it gets!  Give it a listen and don't forget to keep a lookout for our video, coming your way in a week...

How To Make A Beautiful Orange Peel Flower - May 8, 2014

Carolina Locker

The 6 easy steps behind every piece of jewelry in our "Orange Peel" collection.

The 6 easy steps behind every piece of jewelry in our "Orange Peel" collection.

Today we would like to show you how our incredible Colombian women artisans transform orange peels into beautiful flowers, at the heart of our entire collection of orange peel jewelry (steps pictured above).  Step 1, find a ready supply of freshly squeezed oranges.  Step 2, carefully scoop out the pulp.  Step 3, double check to make sure you scooped out the pulp (otherwise it won't dry).  Step 4, allow to dry under direct sunlight in a low humidity environment, but not too long, they might burn!  Step 5, beginning at the top, cut a thin contiguous strip of peel leaving the circular center intact (a little larger then a silver dollar).  Step 6, roll the strip of peel tightly and neatly from outside inward, pin with a large needle and allow to dry for a few days.  CONGRATULATIONS, you have just created a beautiful orange peel flower and amazing item of jewelry, in both a sustainable and eco-minded way!  Very similar steps are employed in all our lines of organic jewelry, allowing our Colombian women artisans to produce individual works of art every single time they create a new item!  Check out many more beautiful orange peel flowers and our entire collection of orange peel jewelry at http://www.colombiangirljewelry.com/orange-peel/.

Crazy for Tagua! April 18th, 2014

Native to Colombia, most people have never seen a tagua nut before...especially in jewelry!

Native to Colombia, most people have never seen a tagua nut before...especially in jewelry!

Tagua Nut... One of our signature ingredients found in the Amazon Rainforest. Also called 'vegetable ivory’ for its resemblance to ivory in elephant tusks. As its popularity in Colombian jewelry continues to grow, this nut is helping impede deforestation of the Amazon rainforest and the killing of elephants in Africa! Take a look at our collection of Tagua Nut Jewelry at:
